According to customs data, China imported 625000 tons of titanium ore in August 2024, an increase of 30.64 percent over the same period last year, an increase of 34.72 percent month-on-month, with an average monthly price of 283.31 US dollars per ton.From January to August 2024, China imported a total of about 331.60 tons of ilmenite, an increase of 8.69 percent over the same period last year, and imports increased by about 265300 tons.

Among them, the top three countries in August were Mozambique, Australia and Norway, accounting for 44%, 16% and 6% of the total imports, respectively.

With the return of imported minerals from some countries, the increase in ilmenite imports is gradually obvious compared with the same period last year, with Australia increasing by 249200 tons, followed by Nigeria with an increase of 106200 tons and Egypt with an increase of 70900 tons. The imports of titanium ores from other countries have increased or decreased by different degrees.

In August 2024, China exported 6315.95 tons of titanium ore, an increase of 418.49% over the same period last year and 234.36% month-on-month growth.From January to August 2024, China exported a total of about 52500 tons of ilmenite, an increase of 175.70 percent over the same period last year, and exports increased by about 33400 tons.

Among them, the top three countries in August are Japan, India and Russia, accounting for 48%, 23% and 6% of the total exports, respectively.

Titanium dioxide

In August 2024, China imported 6432.66 tons of titanium dioxide, down 30.20 percent from the same period last year and 29.27 percent from the same period last year. Among them, 2601.16 tons were imported from sulphuric acid process titanium dioxide in August, 14.86 percent lower than the previous month. From January to August, the total import of sulfuric acid titanium dioxide was 19700 tons, and that of chlorination titanium dioxide was 3827.50 tons, down 36.57 percent month-on-month. 43500 tons of chlorinated titanium dioxide were imported from January to August.

From January to August 2024, China imported a total of about 63200 tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 27.82 percent over the same period last year, and an increase of about 13800 tons.

Among them, the top three regions in August 2024 are the United States, Mexico and Japan, accounting for 23%, 21% and 18% of the total imports, respectively.

In August 2024, China exported 160700 tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 0.65 percent over the same period last year, an increase of 16.88 percent over the same period last year. Among them, exports of titanium dioxide from sulfuric acid process in August were 134200 tons, up 0.05 percent from January to August. Exports of titanium dioxide from sulphuric acid process totaled 1.0582 million tons from January to August, while exports of titanium dioxide from chlorination process in August were 26400 tons, an increase of 3.86 percent over the previous month. Export of titanium dioxide by chlorination process totaled 234700 tons.

From January to August 2024, China exported a total of about 1.2929 million tons of titanium dioxide, an increase of 16.52 percent over the same period last year, and exports increased by about 183300 tons.

Among them, the top three countries of titanium dioxide exports in August are India, Brazil and South Korea, accounting for 19%, 9% and 6% of the total exports respectively.

The average monthly import price of titanium dioxide from January to August in 2024 was 3309.81 US dollars / ton, down 6.97 percent from the same period last year. The average monthly export price of titanium dioxide from January to August was 2228.15 US dollars / ton, an increase of 1.98 percent over the same period last year.

Sponge titanium

China imported 0.195 tons of sponge titanium in August 2024 and 0.197 tons from January to August, a decrease of about 123.34 tons in the same period last year.

In August 2024, China exported 743.6 tons of sponge titanium, an increase of 18.86% over the previous month and 225.28% over the same period last year.From January to August 2024, China exported a total of about 3794.8 tons of sponge titanium, an increase of 22.20 percent over the same period last year, and an increase of about 689.36 tons.

In August 2024, the top three regions of sponge titanium export were Japan, South Korea and the United States, accounting for 26%, 25% and 18%, respectively.
