Titanium dioxide is an important inorganic chemical pigment, the main component of which is titanium dioxide. The production process of titanium dioxide includes sulfuric acid process and chlorination process. It has important applications in coating, printing ink, paper making, plastic rubber, chemical fiber, ceramics and other industries. So how should we distinguish true and false titanium dioxide?

Use physical methods to identify true and false titanium dioxide: The simplest method is to compare the feeling of touch. The false titanium dioxide is slippery and the true titanium dioxide is astringent. When you wash with water, you get a little titanium dioxide on your hand. It's easy to wash off fake ones, but it's really not easy to wash off real titanium dioxide. Take a glass of clean water and throw titanium dioxide into it. The one that floats up is true and the one that settles down is false (if it is an activated product, it will not work).

Chemical method is used to identify the true and false: add light calcium or heavy calcium into dilute sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, and bubbles can make the clarified lime water turbid, because calcium carbonate will react with acid to produce carbon dioxide. Mixed with lithopone and diluted sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, it has the smell of rotten eggs. It is made of latex paint, with iron red and dark color, which indicates that the poor covering power is false or poor quality titanium dioxide.
